The works carried out by Bouygues Construction on the 160 km long M5 motorway consisted in improving and rehabilitating the existing motorway over a distance of 30 km, the doubling of the lanes over a 29 km section and the construction of a new 2 x 2 lane motorway over a third 41 km section. Other works permitted the opening of new sections. The motorway now links Budapest to south-eastern Hungary and forms part of a major eastern European road link between Turkey and Germany. The 35 year concession is held by a group of contractors.
